Our Story
GAAS was established in 2018 with a goal of establishing an Aquatic Society in Austin that would continue to benefit the community for as long as possible.
We were once recognized as a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
Historically, GAAS used to hold monthly meetings that were free and open to the public. Sometimes they would include industry speakers and experts.
At one point, GAAS also hosted larger events, like auctions and vendor expos, and trade shows, 2-3 times per year.
Nowadays, we are just an informal community, largely based online, comprised of fishkeeping hobbyists and the fish-curious. We serve as a vessel for local hobbyists to connect.
GAAS does not have the capacity to accept rescues or donations of live animals.
If you need to give away an animal, we highly suggest our Facebook group or similar local Texas groups for fishkeepers. If you are looking to sell or trade animals, our Discord server is the best place to start. GAAS Fish Rehoming Resources page.
